Saturday, March 3, 2018

STEVENS POINT, Wisconsin – Despite impressive efforts from Kaylee Prather and Zach Richardson, the UT Tyler Indoor Track & Field season came to an end on Saturday at the Pointers Final Qualifier at the Multi-Activity Center. Prather and Richardson competed at the event in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Indoor Championships, but fell just short of the marks and times to earn a bid.

Prather would complete her Indoor season in the long jump with a jump of 5.28 meters after she set a new UT Tyler record with a jump of 5.49 meters on Friday night in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In the 60, Prather would run a 7.86 to finish seventh in the finals after running a 7.84 in the preliminaries.

In the 200, Richardson would run a personal best and finish third at the Stevens Point meet with a time of 22.33 for the Patriots. Richardson’s run is the second fastest in UT Tyler behind on Kevonte Shaw who ran a 21.68 in 2015.

Richardson finished fourth in the 400-meter dash after running a 49.81 in the finals and a 49.72 in the preliminaries.

The UT Tyler Track & Field program will now travel to Abilene to compete at the War Hawk Classic on Friday, March 23 before going to Magnolia, Arkansas for the Southern Arkansas Invitational on Saturday, March 31.
