AWARD: Prather goes back-to-back with ASC honors

RICHARDSON - UT Tyler senior Kaylee Prather earned her second consecutive Track Athlete of the Week award after placing fourth in the 60 meter dash finals at the Broncho Open in Norman, Oklahoma with a time of 7.92 seconds. Her mark leads the ASC and is tied for 36th in NCAA Division III and tied for sixth in the region. Prather also won the long jump with a mark of 5.32 meters (17 ft.-5.5 in.).

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Michael Brown, Sr., McMurry
McMurry University senior Michael Brown (Oxnard, Calif.) won his second career Athlete of the Week award by winning the 400 meter dash in 50.46 seconds at the Broncho Open in Norman, Okla. His mark is second in the ASC and fifth in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region. Brown also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400 meter relay that won the event in 3:26.70, ranking second in the region.
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Aaron Webb, Fr., McMurry
McMurry freshman Aaron Webb (Broncho Open) tied with teammate Tiyoshi Hopes to win the high jump by clearing 2.00 meters (6 ft.-6.75 in.). The height ranks second in region and tied for 31st in the country. He also ran the lead leg of the 4x400 meter relay team that won the event.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Shamaujae Crockett, Jr., McMurry
McMurry junior Shamuajae Crockett (Houston, Texas) posted the No. 2 height in the region and 37th-best in the nation in the high jump at the Broncho Open in Norman, Okla. She cleared 1.60 meters (5 ft.-3 in.), placing second at the event. Crockett also posted a season-best long jump of 5.08 meters (16 ft.-8 in.), tied for the 10th-best mark in the South/Southeast. She ran the second leg of the War Hawks’ 4x400 meter relay which finished in 4:10.03 and placed third.
 
OTHER TOP MEN’S PERFORMANCES
University of the Ozarks freshman Michael Harris (Elkins, Ark.) posted a time of 16:17.68 in the 5,000 meters at the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic in Kansas. His time is the fastest in the ASC this season and ranks 33rd in the region.
 
UT Tyler freshman Matthew Cecotti (Lindale, Texas) set a new school record by 11 seconds in the mile with a time of 4:24.84, placing second at the Broncho Open. His time leads the ASC and is ninth in the South/Southeast.
 
UT Tyler freshman Cody Benton (Richardson, Texas) won the men’s long jump with a mark of 6.61 meters (21 ft.-8.25 in.) and placed third in the triple jump at 13.22 meters (43 ft.-4.5 in.). He moved into third in the ASC in the triple jump and up to 11th in the region.
 
LeTourneau University senior Arvin Hrushka (Kaiserslautern, Germany) placed seventh in the 60 meter hurdle finals in 9.76 seconds at the Broncho Open. His time was good for third in the ASC and 36th in the region.
 
LeTourneau University freshman Alex Hindman (Seminole, Texas) won the pole vault at the Broncho Open by clearing 1.60 meters (15 ft.-1 in.).
 
OTHER TOP WOMEN’S PERFORMANCES
Ozarks junior Hannah Smith (Blue Eye, Mo.) posted a time of 19:23.48 in the 5,000 meters at the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic. Her time is in the best in the ASC this season by 1:31 and ranks 19th in the region.
 
LeTourneau sophomore Alexis Segura (Austin, Texas) improved upon her school record in the mile by more than 15 seconds at the Broncho Open. Her time of 5:29.95 was good for third place at the event and it leads the ASC and ranks 24th in the South/Southeast Region.
Belhaven senior Brooklyn Schumaker (Moscow, Idaho) posted the top 400 meter dash time in the ASC at the Samford Open with a time of 1:01.91. She also ran the 800 in 2:27.11 which is second best in the conference. Schumaker’s times rank 14th in the region in the 400 and 26th in the 800.
