#UTTylerTF competes at Southern Arkansas meet

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – UT Tyler’s Whitney Simmons, Victoria Nix, Matthew Godwin earned wins in events for the Patriots on Saturday at the Southern Arkansas University Dan Veach Invitational.


Simmons, the defending NCAA Division III National Champion, unleashed a Hammer Throw of 61.35 meters to win the event, had a mark of 38.89 meters in the Discus to win and Victoria Nix cleared 3.52 meters to win the Pole Vault.  

Matthew Roe would leave Arkansas with a runner-up finish after throwing 41.35 meters in the men’s Hammer and was fourth in the Shot Put with a mark of 12.96 and seventh in the Discus (30.81).

Godwin would win the Javelin with a distance of 55.85 meters on his first throw of the day, while teammate Jesse Navarro took second in the event with a throw of 48.56 and Nikelas Simmons was fourth (41.61). Nix would win the women’s Pole Vault by clearing 3.52 meters while Harding’s Diana Davis was second at 3.07 meters.

Diana Wilde was second in the women’s long jump with a distance of 4.74 meters, while Zach Richardson was eighth in the event on the men’s side with a jump of 6.14 meters.

Michaela Hey finished third in the women’s Steeplewith a time of 13:03, while on the men’s side of the Steeple Quinton Bryson ran a 10:29 for third and Shafen Borah finished in a time of 10:41 for fourth in the event.

Ricky Hall sprinted to a 10.99 time in the 100-meters for fourth, while Logan Houser ran a 50.66 in the 400-meters for seventh.
