Day One: Simmons Sets New PR at SFA Carl Kight Invite

NACOGDOCHES -- Sophomore thrower Whitney Simmons set a new personal record in the women's hammer throw on the first night of the SFA Skechers Carl Kight Invitational on Thursday night.

Simmons, a White Oak native, finished with a throw of 56.38 meters, beating the other 10 competitors, all NCAA Div. I athletes by more than three full meters.

Brittany Brunson finished eighth in the women's 1500 meter run, finishing in 4:51.17, while teammate Krista Painter finished 16th in 5:10.76.

Carly Kitts recorded a top-ten finish in the women's 5000 meter with a time of 19:30.99, while Paige Maly finished 11th in 20:11.13.

For the men, Ford Noack recorded a second-place finish in the men's 1500 meter run, finishing the race in 4:00.34.  

Alex Wilson finished ninth in the men's 5000 meter run in 16:00.03, while teammates Conner Benson (16:09.36) and Matthew Markert (16:33.30) finished 11th and 12th resepectively.
