ARLINGTON – Coming off a three week break due to spring break and a cancellation of the Dr. Pepper Invitational two weeks ago, senior Ashton Wells was the top female performer among several teammates at the Bobby Lane Invitational.

Wells placed 24th in the discus with a throw of 26.47m, while Leah Solomon also competed in three different events, finishing 36th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.99. She also competed in the high jump and triple jump.

The Patriot men, who finished 17th of 26 teams, were paced by school-record performances from sophomores Chris Stonestreet and Joel Hunt in the hammer throw and long jump. Stonestreet finished 14th with a throw of 45.80m, shattering the previous school record throw of 34.74m, while Hunt's jump of 20'10" bettered Monta Jeffley's record of 20'4 3/4."

Sophomore Jeff Chandler also faired well in both the steeplechase and 5000m, placing fourth with a time of 10:08.88 in the steeplechase and 28th in the 5000m run with a time of 15:56.24 – only 32 seconds off the school-record pace.

Freshman Taylor Reed, who already set an NCAA qualifying mark at the Texas A&M Commerce meet, finished fourth of 30 competitors in the pole vault with a vault of 4.55m. Junior Ross Renfroe also had a strong weekend, placing eighth in the 1500m run with a time of 4:04.72 in a field of 43 runners, while Will Krogman placed 32nd. Rounding out the performances were Stonestreet's 15th place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.61m and Tyler Golden's 14th place finish in the javelin.

Both teams will be back in action April 10 at the Trinity Alumni Classic in San Antonio.
