    The UT Tyler women's track and field team had a strong day at the Trinity University Tiger Relays on Friday evening. Freshman thrower Whitney Simmons set a new school record in the Hammer with a toss of 49.35 meters.

    The UT Tyler track and field teams will officially open the outdoor season with the 4th Annual Marc Randle Classic. UT Tyler and Wiley College will host the event which will feature more than 10 teams from all over the region.

    UT Tyler junior track athlete Buck Thompson was named South/Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year while his coach, Emily Krizmanic was named the South/Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA on Friday.

    The UT Tyler women's track and field team had its best finish ever, finishing as runners-up at the American Southwest Conference Championship meet. The Patriots finished with 154 total points and had several athletes named All-Conference.

    The UT Tyler track and field teams competed at the Rhodes College Open and fared well against competition from across the country. Ross Renfroe took third place in the men's 1-mile run and in the men's 800-meter, Nicklas Huff ran a 1:56.10 for second place.
