UT Tyler head tennis coach Chris Bizot was named the Wilson/ITA West Region Women's Tennis Coach of the Year and senior men's player Kevin Wright was selected as the region's Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship honoree, the ITA announced this week.
Bizot, in his eighth season with the Patriots, led the UT Tyler women to their fifth-consecutive American Southwest Conference championship and appearance in the NCAA Championships. The women finished the season with a 18-5 record.
Wright, a senior from College Station, Texas, wrapped up his accomplished career as a Patriot by helping lead the UT Tyler men to the ASC title, also the fifth in-a-row.
Both teams ended their seasons in the NCAA Regional tournaments.
