PREVIEW: @patriotstennis adjusts weekend schedule

TYLER – The UT Tyler Tennis teams will host a pair of American Southwest Conference matches against Ozarks at 9 a.m. on Sunday and LeTourneau at 5 p.m. on Monday after playing at ETBU on Saturday in a three-match stretch. The Patriots will honor their three seniors, Alexis Arrieta, Marisa Quevedo, and Alexandre Bouchard prior to their match against Ozarks, beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday at the Summers Tennis Center. The matches were moved to due to weather.

Arrieta, a Georgetown native, transferred from Midwestern State prior to her junior year and has been an impact on the team from the moment she stepped on campus. She has a singles record of 13-13 in the past two years and has a winning record of 18-10 in doubles. Arrieta has earned two ASC Player of the Week honors, with her latest being in March after a stellar performance against Division II UT Permian Basin.

Marisa Quevedo, a Tyler native, transferred from Seton Hall to play her senior season with the Patriots. She attended The Brook Hill School, where she was a TAPPS Class 3A State Champion in high school. In Quevedo’s short time at UT Tyler, she has earned an ASC Player of the Week honor after two wins over Austin College in her first ever appearance with the Patriots and has a career record of 3-1 in singles and 2-2 in doubles play.   

Alexandre Bouchard has been part of the team since his freshman year and is the lone senior on the men’s side. The Canadian is from Drummondville, QC and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering, with an aspiration to work in the aerospace industry. He has never lost as a Patriot and is 3-0 in his career.

The No. 30 men’s team comes into this weekend’s matchups with an overall record of 13-3 and are 2-0 in ASC play. The No. 37 women’s team is 10-5 on the year with a 2-0 record in the ASC. The teams will face LeTourneau at 9 a.m. at the Summers Tennis Center before they take on Ozarks at 3 p.m. The Patriots will then travel to Marshall to face East Texas Baptist on Saturday at 10 a.m.
