PREVIEW: @patriotstennis to play in 3 locations this weekend

TYLER – The UT Tyler tennis programs have an adventurous weekend with matches in Waco, Clarksville, Arkansas and then at home.

The No. 17-ranked men’s team opens the weekend against No. 31 Gustavus Adolphus College at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in Waco before both teams travel to Arkansas to play their first American Southwest Conference matches of the season at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The weekend will conclude with a 10 a.m. home match on Sunday by the women’s team against Trinity at the Summers Tennis Center.

The men’s team is 11-3 on the season led by No. 9-ranked Arthur Fagundes who is 10-0 in singles play this season along with Daniel Rodriguez (12-2), Jose McIntyre (10-2), Pablo Gomez (7-4) and Joey Fischer (6-3). In doubles, Fischer and Gomez are 12-2 in second doubles play while Fagundes and McIntyre went 3-3 last weekend in Georgetown. Fagundes has now won 26 singles matches in his career for the Patriots.

The women’s team is 6-8 on the season and opens ASC play against Ozarks on Saturday. Alexis Arrieta and Tori Musngi are leading the Patriots with an 11-3 first doubles record, while Musngi is 8-4 in second singles play. Alexandra McKissick and Savannah Seely are 6-3 in third doubles this season and Lauren Kuhn and Nancy Perez are 6-5 entering the weekend in second doubles action.
