RECAP: @patriotstennis rolls to sweeps of Doane

TYLER – The UT Tyler tennis teams rolled to a pair of 9-0 wins over Doane College on Thursday at the Summers Tennis Center with the No. 25-ranked men’s team improving to 7-1 on the season and the No. 39-ranked women now at 5-4 entering a spring break week where the teams will play in Orlando, Florida.

The men’s team cruised to its win over DC with Vinicio Hadlich taking a 6-0, 6-1 first singles win and Daniel Rodriguez taking a 6-0, 6-0 second singles victory. Joey Fischer and Pablo Gomez improved to 7-1 on the season by taking an 8-4 win in first doubles, while Ryan Elwood and Hadlich secured an 8-5 second doubles win. Rodriguez is now 6-2 in his freshman season, while Jose McIntyre is 6-0 after a 6-1, 6-3 fourth singles win. Hidalgo and Joshua Vanwinkle would take an 8-4 third doubles win for their first win of the season as partners. In singles, Hidalgo was a 6-2, 6-1 fifth singles winner and Vanwinkle won a 7-6, 6-1 sixth singles decision.

The women’s team swept through Doane and improved to 3-2 on their home court this season, highlighted by Alexis Arrieta and Tori Musngi earning an 8-3 first doubles win to take their season record to 7-2 in doubles play. Musngi rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 second singles win and is now 6-1 in her senior season, while Arrieta was 6-4, 6-0 first singles winner for her third win of the year.

Lauren Kuhn won a 6-4, 6-1 third singles winner and teamed with Nancy Perez for an 8-1 second doubles win, while Perez took a 6-2, 7-6 fourth singles victory. Alexandra McKissick and Savannah Seely won their doubles and singles matches as the Patriots finished the day perfect over the Nebraska school. The UT Tyler women will open their week in Florida by playing Stevens on Monday before taking on Case Western on Tuesday and Kenyon on Wednesday.
