@patriotstennis falls 5-4 to Swarthmore College

WACO – Alexis Arrieta and Tori Musngi improved to 6-2 on the season in first doubles play but the UT Tyler women’s tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Swarthmore College on Tuesday in a non-conference match at the Waco Regional Tennis Center.

Musngi and Arrieta would secure an 8-3 win in first doubles play, but the Garnet led 2-1 after doubles with second (Lauren Kuhn/Nancy Perez) and third doubles (Alexandra McKissick/Savannah Seely) both losing a 9-7 decision.  Musngi would go 2-0 on the day after earning a 6-4, 6-5 second singles win to improve to 5-1 on the season and McKissick and Seely both won their singles matches. McKissick earned a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 fifth singles win to move to 2-1 on the season and Seely was a 6-3, 6-5 sixth singles winner for her fourth win of the season.

The Patriots (4-4) will return to action by hosting Doane College at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Summers Tennis Center. The Garnet (1-2) are an Eastern College Athletic Conference team which is in Texas for spring break where they dropped a match at Southwestern on Monday and will now play at Trinity on Wednesday before returning to Pennsylvania.
