@patriotstennis headed to ITA Regionals in Abilene

TYLER – The UT Tyler women’s tennis program will travel to Abilene this weekend for the ITA Regional Championships.


The ITA event will take place from Friday-Sunday in four different locations in Abilene with matches being played on the Hardin-Simmons new and old courts, at Rose Park Tennis Center and at Abilene High School. The men's ITA Regional Championships will be hosted next week at UT Tyler and Tyler Junior College courts. 

Alexis Arrieta is seeded third in the regional championship and will open play against Grace Ortiz of Austin College. Arrieta is a junior transfer from Midwestern State who is the highest seeded Patriot in the event while Tori Musngi is seeded 12th and Lauren Kuhn 16th. Musngi’s senior ITA championship will begin against an opponent from Ozarks and Kuhn takes on an Austin College opponent. The Patriots are also represented in the Singles A Draw by Victoria Kniffen, Emily Danielson, Nancy Perez and Savannah Seely.  

UT Tyler will be represented by four Doubles A teams with the third seeded team of Arrieta and Tori Musngi teaming up and Lauren Kuhn and Alexandra McKissick playing as the fifth seed. The Patriots will also be represented by Victoria Kniffen and Savannah Seely along with Nancy Perez and Emily Danielson competing together.

The singles and doubles winners advance to the ITA National Championships.
