    The UT Tyler men's tennis team finished the 2017 season ranked No. 23 in the nation, Arthur Fagundes is No. 16 in singles play and the women's team finished 12th in the West Region.

    AWARDS: @patriotstennis earns ASC East honors

    UT Tyler senior Tori Musngi earned American Southwest Conference Women's Tennis East Division First-Team honors in singles play and Lauren Kuhn, Nancy Perez, Alexandra McKissick and Savannah Seely were first-team selections in doubles within the division. A Rowlett native, Musngi finished her four-year career with 56 wins following going 11-4 as a senior in singles. Kuhn and Perez were 11-7 on the season as partners, while McKissick and Seely were 12-3. The Patriots finished as the ASC East Division regular-season champion and as the ASC Championship runner-up.

With the ASC East title, the men’s team will host the ASC Championship from May 4-6 at the Summers Tennis Center, while the women’s team will be the East’s top seed at the women’s tournament at Hardin-Simmons next weekend.

    AWARD: Kuhn named ASC East Player of Week

    AWARD: Lauren Kuhn has earned ASC Player of the Week honors after going 2-0 in doubles with partner Nancy Perez and also earned a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 No. 2 singles win over Belhaven to help UT Tyler to a pair of wins vs. ASC teams. Kuhn was an 8-5 winner at No. 2 doubles winners in the close match against East Texas Baptist won by the Patriots, 5-4.

The Patriot women will return to action at 8 a.m. on Sunday by hosting Trinity at the Summers Tennis Center in a match that was moved up two hours because of weather forecasts.

    The No. 17-ranked men’s team opens the weekend against No. 19 Gustavus Adolphus College at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in Waco before both teams travel to Arkansas to play their first American Southwest Conference matches of the season at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The weekend will conclude with a 10 a.m. home match on Sunday by the women’s team against Trinity at the Summers Tennis Center.

    AWARD: Seely named ASC East Player of the Week

    Savannah Seely had a perfect week going 6-0 in Orlando with three singles wins and three doubles victories for the Patriots. Seeley is on a six-match winning streak in singles play after earning a 6-2, 6-0 sixth singles win over Nicole Badalyan of Stevens, a 6-2, 6-1 sixth singles victory over Katie Busch No. 18 Case Western Reserve, and finishing off the week with a 6-4, 6-2 sixth singles win over Alyssa Moreau of No. 30 Kenyon. Seely and doubles partner Alexandra McKissick would also roll to three wins in third doubles as the pair improved to 6-1 on the season.

    RECAP: @patriotstennis finishes Orlando trip with win over Kenyon

    Arthur Fagundes stayed perfect on the season and the No. 25-ranked UT Tyler men’s tennis team knocked off its second ranked opponent this week by earning a 7-2 win over No. 20 Kenyon College on Wednesday at the USTA Tennis Center to cap a three-match trip in Florida. The women’s team would battle, but fell 5-4 to No. 30 Kenyon with Alexis Arrieta and Tori Musngi improving to 9-3 in doubles play with a win.
