GEORGETOWN – Allie McKissick earned a “B” Singles Championship on Sunday to lead a group of UT Tyler women’s tennis players at the USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championship which was played at Southwestern’s Marvin D. Henderson Tennis Courts this weekend.

McKissick earned a 4-6,6-2,10-8 win over ETBU’s Kelly Cawthorn on the third day of the tournament in the B Singles finals after securing a 6-2, 6-4 semifinal victory over Jasmine Briant (HSU). McKissick, a freshman from Humble, won six matches over the three-day tournament to earn the regional title.

"I thought the ladies represented us very well this past weekend," UT Tyler head coach Chris Bizot said. "The women’s field was the strongest it has ever been in my 12 seasons and for us to have made the semifinals or better in every bracket is quite an accomplishment."

Lauren Kuhn battled her way to the A Consolation Championship final but would fall to Kate Bramlett (ETBU), 2-6, 7-5, 11-9 on Sunday. Kuhn, a freshman from Carrollton, had earned a 6-0, 6-4 semifinal win over Michaela Ellision (HSU) to reach the consolation final in the A division while Victoria Kniffen reached the B Consolation singles championship final after earning a 6-2, 7-6 (3) semifinal win over Carlye Lide (AC). Kniffen, a freshman from Kerrville, would fall 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 though in the finals to Kelsey Buczkowski in the finals on Sunday.

Kniffen and Perez were the eighth seed in the B Doubles bracket and won four matches on their way to the finals. The route included an 8-3 win over the top seeds in the quarterfinals and then an 8-2 win over Southwestern’s Rose/Swets on their home court. Kniffen and Perez would take a 9-7 loss in the finals to SU’s Kahl and Wilson who were the second seeds in the B doubles bracket.
