WALLA WALLA, Wa. -- The UT Tyler women's tennis team started its Northwest-weekend trip going 1-2, defeating Whittier 8-1 while falling to Lewis and Clark 7-2 and Linfield 9-0.

The Patriots started their trip with a tough 7-2 loss to the Lewis and Clark Pioneers 7-2 on Friday.  Both wins came in doubles-play, as Sarah Moses and Jennifer Payne won 9-7.

Tori Musngi and Janae Warren teamed-up to win 8-3 over the Pioneers' Garrson-Plawska and No. 3.

On Saturday, UT Tyler bounced-back with a resounding win over Whittier, winning 8-1 in the first match of the day.

Moses and Payne won at No. 1 doubles 8-5, No. 2's Emily Hoover and Nicole Musngi won 8-0, and No. 3's Musngi-Warren also won 8-0.

In singles, Payne, Moses, Nicole Musngi, Hoover and Stephanie Castellanos each won in singles, delivering the convincing 8-1 match win.

UT Tyler was unable to keep the momentum going in the second match of the day, falling 9-0 to the Wildcats.

The Patriots will end their four-match trip against the Whitman College Whits at 9 a.m. in Walla Walla.
