SAN ANTONIO -- The UT Tyler women's tennis team continued its impressive win-streak, defeating Texas Lutheran on Friday and winning a thriller against Trinity on Saturday. After starting the year 4-6, the ladies have won 12-straight matches and are 16-6 overall.
On Friday, the Patriots dominated Texas Lutheran, winning 8-1 for their 11th-straight win, a new program-record.
In doubles, Amy Friesenhahn and Tori Musngi won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, the closest game of the day.
No. 2 doubles team Jessica Blundell and Jennifer Payne won 8-0, while the No. 3 team of Alex Dial and Nicole Musngi also won 8-0.
In singles against the Lady Bulldogs, Payne, T. Musngi, Dial, Janae Warren and Allie Carlisle all were victorious.
On Saturday, the ladies took on Trinity, winning 5-4 in dramatic fashion.
No. 3 doubles Musgni-Dial got the match started with a 8-3 win, but the Tigers were able to bounce back with a pair of wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Trailing 2-1, UT Tyler's Payne tied the match with a 7-6, 6-1 win, while Friesenhahn did the same with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2.
Tied 3-3, Nicole Musngi won at No. 5, 6-4, 6-4, putting the Patriots just one win shy of the match victory.
After T. Musngi fell at No. 4 singles, the match rested on Alex Dial, who was playing No. 6.
Dial would deliver, winning 6-4, 6-1, clinching the victory for the Patriots, 5-4.
The 12-straight wins improve the Patriots' record to 16-6 overall, vaulting the ladies into the postseason on the league's best win streak.
UT Tyler will close the regular season with a match against LeTourneau at 3 p.m, on Thursday in Tyler.
