Women's Tennis Falls 8-1 to NCAA D-I Incarnate Word

TYLER -- The UT Tyler women's tennis team dropped its second-straight match, falling 8-1 to NCAA Division I program Incarnate Word on Saturday evening.  Sophomore Haley Albro was the lone Patriot to come away with a victory, winning 6-0, 6-3 in No. 6 singles.

The Patriots started the day 0-3 in doubles, as No. 1 doubles Amy Friesenhahn and Tori Musngi fell 8-3.

Jessica Blundell and Jennifer Payne teamed up at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-2 to Jennifer Betancourt and Sarah Savedra.

Albro and Nicole Musngi also lost a close match to the Cardinals, losing 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Blundell and Friesenhahn each lost 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 and No. 2, while teammate Jennifer Payne lost 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3.

Tori Musngi and Janae Warren lost at No. 4 and No. 5, while Albro picked up the win at No. 6 singles.

UT Tyler will now prepare for its California swing, beginning on March 12 as they take on Whittier College at 6 p.m. Pacific in Whittier, California.
