TYLER -- The UT Tyler men's and women's golf teams were each handed their first loss of the season, with the ladies falling 8-1 to Tyler Junior College and the men falling 6-3 to Incarnate Word.  The teams will hit the courts again on Saturday against the same teams.

For the men, the NCAA Div. I Cardinals were too much, taking a 2-1 lead early after doubles play.

Daniel Budd and Ryan Spencer were victorious in No. 2 doubles, winning 8-3 to get the Patriots on the board.

In singles, Spencer won again, this time at No. 5 singles against Brandon Davis, winning 7-5, 6-2.

Senior Edward Timponi was also impressive, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, picking up the third win for the home team.

The ladies took on the No. 1 team in the juco-ranks, and neighbor Tyler Junior College, falling 8-1.

Sophomore Haley Albro was the lone Patriot to pick up a win, defeating TJC's Adriana Garrett 6-0, 6-2.

The men will host Tyler Junior College beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the ladies starting the day with a 1:30 matchup with Incarnate Word.
