CLAREMONT, Ca. -- The UT Tyler women's tennis team fell 9-0 to No. 5 Carnegie Mellon on Sunday afternoon, continuing their week-long trip to California.  The Patriots will take on Chapman in Anaheim on Sunday evening, hoping to notch their first win on the West Coast.

The Tartans (6-2) took the doubles matchups to start the match, winning 8-4, 8-4, 8-1, with UT Tyler needing to win five singles contests to secure the match.

UT Tyler was unable to overcome an expereienced Carnegie-Mellon team, falling in each matchup.

In No. 1 singles, Amy Friesenhahn fell 6-2, 6-4 to the No. 9 ranked singles player in the nation, Katie Cecil, while teammate Jessica Blundell fell to Chelsea Motie in No. 2 doubles.

In the second match of the day, the Patriots fell 7-2 to No. 23 ranked Chapman in Anaheim.

Nicole Musngi was a part of the two wins for UT Tyler, winning 6-1, 6-4 in No. 5 singles, and teaming with Haley Albro to win 8-5 in No. 3 doubles.
