RICHARDSON – The University of Texas at Tyler men's and women's tennis teams each picked up 9-0 victories at UT Dallas on Saturday that helped both teams complete the ASC season a perfect 5-0 and clinch an outright East championship.

The women improved to 14-3 overall with their sixth consecutive win, while the men improved to 12-6.

On the women's side, UT Tyler improved to 7-0 all-time against the Comets.

They had little trouble in doubles play, winning a pair of 8-1 decisions at No's 2 and 3 and 8-3 decision at No. 1 behind Michelle Hagler and Ashley Albro.

In singles play, a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win by Albro at No. 3 closed out a sweep. Lauren Giovannini's 6-0, 6-0 skunk at No. 4 singles paced the team to victory, while Brittany Trich, Heather Harmon, Sydni Hermsdorf and Lauren Nielsen each delivered convincing wins in their respective matches.

The men moved to 8-0 all-time vs UTD with a 9-0 win of their own.

After fighting off a pair of tough matches at No's 1 and 2 doubles, 8-5 and 8-6, the Patriots carried that momentum into singles play and made easy work of the Comets.

Adam Chirhart and Kevin Wright each battled to 7-5 wins in their opening sets at No's 2 and 3, before cruising to 6-2 and 6-1 wins in their final sets. Brad Fenter's 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 4 position helped him snap a three-match losing streak, while Austin Gonzalez's 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 snapped consecutive losses for him.

The Patriots will await the seeding of the ASC Tournament for their next opponents, set for April 23-25 in Tyler
