Christopher Bizot of Jupiter, Florida has been named head men’s and women’s tennis coach at The University of Texas at Tyler, announced UT Tyler director of athletics Dr. Howard Patterson.

Bizot will begin his duties at the University on July 26.

“UT Tyler is very fortunate to be able to have someone of Chris Bizot’s caliber,” said Patterson. “He is a high quality individual and his experience and knowledge will allow Chris to continue UT Tyler’s strong tennis tradition.”

Bizot comes to UT Tyler from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida where he served as head tennis coach for their men’s and women’s teams. In 2003-2004, Bizot led the Palm Beach Atlantic men’s team to a 22-8 finish and guided the women’s team to a National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship.

Bizot earned his bachelor and master’s degrees from fellow American Southwest Conference member Mississippi College before being named assistant tennis coach at MC in August of 2002.

“I'm thrilled to be coming to UT Tyler. It is a first-class institution in all respects – academics, athletics and facilities,” said Bizot. “More importantly, the quality of UT Tyler’s student-athletes guarantees we will be successful in all of our programs.”

Bizot will be responsible for coordinating all practices, matches, scheduling, recruiting and budgeting for the University’s tennis program. In addition, he will manage the daily operations of UT Tyler’s Summers Tennis Center.
