TYLER – UT Tyler senior Caroline Williams has earned United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-West Region honors for the second straight season after helping lead the Patriots in a season where they ranked among the top defensive teams in the nation.

A Frisco native, Williams also has been named to the American Southwest Conference first-team and to the conference’s all-tournament team to complete her final season. She started all 17 games for the Patriots in her final year and helped the team to nine shutouts. Williams was named to the region's second-team and is one of 14 ASC players to earn all-region honors.

“Caroline completely transformed herself as a player here and it was really fun for me to watch her play this year and see how much she has grown,” UT Tyler coach Stefani Webb said. “You could see the improvements to her game but to watch how much she loved this program and especially how much she loved her team was amazing. She played for the girl next to her every single day and I couldn’t be more proud.”

UT Tyler finished its season with an 11-5-1 record, including eight wins in ASC play and advanced in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Williams added an assist in a win over Howard Payne and helped the Patriots to limiting opponent to one goal or fewer throughout the regular season.
