JACKSON, Miss. – Four different players scored and the UT Tyler women’s soccer team scored four goals for the third game this season in a 4-1 American Southwest Conference win over Belhaven on Thursday at the Belhaven Bowl.

The Patriots (10-4, 7-4 ASC) responded to a Blazer goal in the 33rd minute with four unanswered goals from Mariah Harmon, Vanessa Rangel, Gigi Grohn and Ashleigh Ackroyd as the team took their unbeaten streak to five games.

“We had some great goals today from four different players which shows the diversity of this group,” UT Tyler coach Stefani Webb said. “They just keep grinding out games and gaining momentum at the right time.”

UT Tyler has now had double-digit win seasons in all 13 seasons under Webb who has led the program since 2005 and has 165-53-16 record for the Patriots during that time and is now 256 in her career.

Down 1-0 after an Erica Rempel goal for Belhaven at 32:22, Harmon scored the first goal of the game for the Patriots and the first of her sophomore season in the 35th minute. The 1-1 score would extend into the second half before Rangel struck in the 61st minute for what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Her second of the season gave the Patriots a 2-1 lead before Grohn scored in the 70th minute and Ackroyd in the 89th. Grohn and Ackroyd both scored their first goals of the season and the Patriots have now had 12 players score this season and own a 26-6 goal advantage over their opponents.

UT Tyler finished the game with a 10-5 shots on goal advantage with Bailey Wooten leading the team with three. Goalkeeper Emily Hurley made four saves against the Blazers who fell to 2-13-1 overall.

The Patriots will finish the regular season with a 2 p.m. game against Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana on Saturday before shifting attention to the postseason. UT Tyler will play on the road next Tuesday, Oct. 31 with the opponent and location to be determined by results this weekend.
