TYLER – UT Tyler’s Bailey Wooten took a cross from Caitlyn Mortus and scored the golden goal in the 93rd minute of play to lift the Patriots to a 1-0 American Southwest Conference win over LeTourneau on Saturday at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.

“I thought the execution on the goal was perfect,” UT Tyler coach Stefani Webb said. “Our buildup was incredible and then the execution of our service and finish was how you draw it up. That was a total team effort and I couldn’t be more proud.”

The Patriots (8-4, 5-4 ASC) allowed only one shot on goal throughout the game from the YellowJackets (6-5-3, 2-4-2 ASC) and earned their first overtime win of the season.

Wooten scored the third goal of her season after taking a perfect pass from Mortus to score the golden goal right in front of the net. It was her first golden goal of her UT Tyler career and the third assist of the season for Mortus. Wooten finished the game with two shots, while Kaycee West had two shots on goal to lead the team and Kathleen Johnson and Jessica L’Hoste had one each for the Patriots who finished with a 5-1 shots on goal advantage.

UT Tyler senior goalkeeper Emily Hurley recorded one save in the game and has 43 on the season.

The Patriots will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21 against Ozarks at 1 p.m. in their final regular-season home game of the season.
