AWARD: Hurley earns ASC Defensive Player of the Week

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kenne Kessler, F, Jr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons University junior forward Kenne Kessler (Highland Village, Texas / Marcus HS) earned her third Offensive Player of the Week award of the season and fourth of her career by scoring seven goals and an assist in the #6 Cowgirls’ two victories. She tied the school record with five goals and had an assist in a 13-0 win over Belhaven. Kessler scored two more times in a 9-0 victory against Louisiana College.

University of Texas at Tyler senior goalkeeper Emily Hurley (Sulphur Springs, Texas / Sulphur Springs HS) made four saves to earn her sixth shutout of the season as the Patriots defeated Sul Ross State 1-0. This is Hurley’s second Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor junior forward Elissa Freberg (Friendswood, Texas / Bay Area Christian HS) helped the Cru to a 2-0 week with a pair of goals and a game-winning assist. She scored back-to-back goals within three minutes in a 5-0 victory against Howard Payne. Freberg assisted the game-winner in a 2-1 double overtime win over UT Dallas.

McMurry University freshman midfielder Angelica Navarro (Fort Worth, Texas / Western Hills HS) recorded four goals, including a hat trick in a 6-1 victory against Belhaven.
UT Tyler junior midfielder Kaelyn Steitz (McKinney, Texas / McKinney HS) scored the game-winning goal in the 10th minute of a 1-0 victory over Sul Ross State.

East Texas Baptist University freshman forward Ashleigh Rondon (Carrolton, Texas / Creekview HS) collected two goals on the week – one in a 4-0 victory against Austin and one in a 2-1 victory against LeTourneau.

Concordia University Texas sophomore forward Kaycee Moore (Azle, Texas / Azle HS) scored a pair of goals in the Tornados’ 3-1 win against Howard Payne.

University of Texas at Dallas junior forward Melissa Fulfer (Arlington, Texas / Martin HS) scored twice and added an assist in the Comets’ road split. She scored the game-tying goal and assisted the game-winner in a 2-1 victory at Concordia Texas. Fulfer had the only goal in a 2-1 double-overtime loss at Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore defender Kandis Hartdegen (Lewisville, Texas / Lewisville HS) played 159 minutes of defense, helping the Cru limit opponents to 10 shots and five shots on goal in two wins, including a 5-0 shutout of Howard Payne.

Hardin-Simmons senior defender Kirsten Parrish (Grandbury, Texas / Travis Academy) led the #6 Cowgirls to a pair of shutouts and added four goals and an assist on the offensive end.

East Texas Baptist sophomore keeper Karrigan Falber (Spring, Texas / Klein HS) earned a shutout victory with two saves in a 4-0 win against Austin College.

Concordia Texas sophomore goalkeeper Shelby Franco (Hurst, Texas / LD Bell HS) recorded 13 saves and a 1.00 goals against average as the Tornados went 1-1. She had eight saves in their 2-1 loss to UT Dallas and five more in a 3-1 victory against Howard Payne.

UT Dallas junior goalkeeper Monica Dallacasa (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands HS) recorded 10 saves and a 1.32 goals against average in 204 minutes as the Comets went 1-1. She made five saves in each contest.
