TYLER – Hardin-Simmons scored four minutes into the game and secured a 1-0 win over the UT Tyler women’s soccer team on Thursday in an American Southwester Conference game at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.

The Patriots (5-3, 2-3 ASC) have now dropped two straight conference games and are now 3-2 at home this season. UT Tyler will now play McMurry at 2 p.m. on Saturday before traveling to Sul Ross next week.

HSU’s Kenne Kessler scored the game-winning goal at the 4:07 mark on a header for the No. 5-ranked Cowgirls who improved to 8-0 and to 4-0 in conference play.

UT Tyler goalkeeper Emily Hurley recorded seven saves against HSU a game after having 11 saves at Mary Hardin-Baylor last Saturday. Taylor Tarsi led the team with two shots, while Kathleen Johnson and Bailey Wooten had one shot on goal each for the Patriots. HSU’s Caitlin Christiansen had two saves for the Cowgirls who had an 8-2 shots on goal advantage over the Patriots.
