Women's Soccer Nabs Five All-ASC Selections

RICHARDSON -- UT Tyler's Charity Shipman, Emily Bechdol, Kristen Steele, Emily Edwards and Paige Harris were all named to the 2011 All-American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Team, the league office has announced.

Shipman, named to the first team All-ASC, finished the season tied for the team in goals with eight, seven of which were scored in conference play. Shipman finished second on the team with 19 total points, including three assists and one game winning goal.

Bechdol and Steele were named to the ASC second team following their stellar season. Bechdol finished the season with eight goals and led the team with 20 points. Steele, who started 15 of 18 games for Patriots, tallied three goals and finished with eight points on the season.

Edwards, a junior from Katy, Texas, was the team's representative on the third team. She totaled 11 points on the season, including five goals and two game winners.  

Goalkeeper Harris was named to the ASC honorable mention team after leading the team with a .96 goals against average and 50 saves.  

UT-Dallas' Leah Bowyer and Hardin-Simmons' Katie Kuykendall were named Co-Offensive Players of the Year while Hardin-Simmons' Rebecca Roth was Defensive Player of theYear. The Patriots finished the year with a 10-6-3 overall record, and finished their season in the first round of the ASC Championship Tournament.
