The University of Texas at Tyler soccer teams dropped their conference openers to UT Dallas Saturday afternoon at the UT Tyler soccer field.
In the opening game, the UT Tyler women’s team fell behind early on a UT Dallas goal by Robin Kappes in the 5th minute. UTD outshot the Patriots 39 to 5 overall in route to the 6-0 shutout victory. No UT Tyler player had more than one shot, while Tiffany Knobloch had 10 shots for UT Dallas followed by Natalie Taylor with nine.
With the loss, the UT Tyler women fall to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in American Southwest Conference play.
On the men’s side, UT Tyler scored the opening goal on a penalty kick by Taylor Robbins in the 12th minute, but that would be the last Patriot goal of the afternoon. In the second half, UTD scored on goals by Justin Morris and another by Petar Tomov in the 75th minute to take the lead.
UT Dallas had 16 total shots to UT Tyler’s six.
The UT Tyler men are now 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the ASC.
