The UT Tyler soccer teams split conference matches with Austin College at the UT Tyler Soccer Field Sunday, with the women falling to AC, 2-1, and the Patriots men's team winning their match 3-1.
The Patriots women jumped out to the lead midway through the first period on an unassisted goal by Patricia Slate in the 32nd minute of play.
Austin College, however, would respond with force in the second half on goals by Emily Clark and Jess Casenave, the second coming in the 64th minute, to take the match and prevent the Patriots from extending their winning streak to two.
With the loss, the UT Tyler women fall to 1-4 on the season and 1-2 in the American Southwest Conference.
In the day's second match, the Patriots men used goals by Erik Schaal, Skyler Clarkston and Taylor Robbins to easily handle Austin College and improve to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the ASC.
Clarkston's goal just before halftime proved critical against a determined Austin College squad that out-shot the Patriots 22-29 overall.
In goal, Geoff Sherman had five saves and allowed only one goal for UT Tyler.
