HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The UT Tyler women’s golf team finished second in an entirely NCAA Division II field at the Henderson State Fall Invitational on Tuesday at the Hot Springs Country Club with Katelyn Hicken leading the Patriots by taking second individually for the top finish of her career.

UT Tyler closed out its fall season by shooting a 327-314-333 – 974 which was just two strokes off the result from Harding which won the tournament with a 313-321-338 – 972. Hicken, who had a third place finish last year but hadn’t placed in the top-10 this season, put together her career’s best tournament by shooting a 77-79-81 – 237 during the Monday-Tuesday tournament. A Frisco native, she had four birdies and 28 pars and led the tournament with a 1-over on par 3s with a 3.08 average. UT Tyler junior Taylor Denton and senior Stephanie Tutt recorded top-10 finishes in Arkansas with Denton taking fifth and Tutt claiming 10th. Denton would finish her three rounds with an 81-80-82 – 243 total, while Tutt was at 84-74-87 – 245 which gave her second top-10 of the season.

Hicken’s 237 was only behind that of Helle Leed who won the tournament with an 80-74-75 – 229 for Southern Arkansas.

“I thought we had some nice play against DII schools and performed well,” UT Tyler coach Grant Spencer said. “Playing 36 on Monday was quite the experience.”

UT Tyler freshmen Hannah Washburn (88-81-83 – 252) and Macy Williams (85-90-94 – 269) rounded out the team result, while Stevie Clewett shot a 273 and Gracie Greer a 277 playing as individuals.
