RECAP: @UTTylerWGolf finishes 5th at NCAA tournament

HOUSTON – The UT Tyler Patriots finished tied for fifth overall at the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship with Stephanie Tutt leading the team with a 23rd place standing at the Bay Oaks Country Club.

The Patriots finished the four-round event with a 313-312-302-319 – 1,246 which tied them with New York University. Rhodes College won the team championship with a 301-300-306-310 – 1,217 to edge out George Fox which led coming into the final day and finished with a 303-303-297-316 – 1,219. UT Tyler finished the season having won eight of 10 tournaments played and with its fifth straight top-5 finish at the national tournament.

“We are all proud of our year,” UT Tyler coach Grant Spencer said. “The eight wins including our conference win which got us into nationals was one of our best seasons on record. Every player had an individual accomplishment including individual titles and personal low rounds. I am proud of how we are able to stay at the top as our lineup as we keep graduating top players.”


Tutt finished her four rounds with a 310 total, while Morgan Loth and Katelyn Hicken tied for 29th overall. Loth, who won back-to-back American Southwest Conference Championships, completed her UT Tyler career by shooting 76-87-73-78 – 314. Hicken was competing in her first NCAA tournament and shot 80-76-79-79 – 314.

Taylor Denton would finish with a final round of 80 and with a 320 total, while Amy Cox shot 86-78-77-83 – 324 to be 41st overall in the national event.

Christina Herbert won the individual championship with a 74-69-76-74 – 293 playing as an individual for Bridgewater College. Nikki Isaacson (Rhodes) and Macy Hubbard (Wittenberg) tied for second overall with four-round total of 295.
