Women's Golf Sits in First at ASC Championship

LUFKIN -- The UT Tyler women's golf team is currently in first-place at the 2013 American Southwest Conference Championships at Crown Colony Country Club.  The Patriots shot a combined 339, two strokes ahead of Mary Hardin-Baylor and four in front of Schreiner.

Jordan Sloane finished the first round in second-place, firing an 81 on the first day of play.

Freshman Laura Lindsey finished the day in a tie for third-place, finishing the first 18 holes with an 82.

Marina Rhodes finished in a tie for ninth-place with an 87, while Katie Crawford finished in a tie for 14th-place after shooting an 89.

Sophomore Taylor Sloane finished in 22nd-place with a 93.

UT Tyler finished as runners-up in last year's championship, and is looking for its first ASC-title since winning their first and only in 2009.

The final day of the 2013 ASC Championships will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m. from Crown Colony.
