TYLER -- The UT Tyler men's and women's golf teams are currently in first-place at the Al Jones Memorial Golf Tournament being held at the Cascades Country Club.  John Dukes and Dayton Cargill are tied for first in the individual men's competition, while Laura Lindsey leads for the women.

Dukes, a senior, fired a 72 on the first day, tied for first with teammate Cargill and Mississippi College's Jimmy Ellis.

All five of the Patriots "Navy" team finished in the top-11, including Joey Rippel and Buddy Hallman who are tied for fourth, Trent Boudoin who is in sixth, and Alex Trivanovich is currently 11th.  The Navy team shot a first-day best 292, good enough for a 12-stroke lead over second-place Mary Hardin-Baylor.

The UT Tyler "Orange" team currently sits in the third-place, after Cargill led the way with a 72 of his own.  Charley Graves, Taylor Quiet, Hudson Joubert and Nick Johnson round out the Orange team, helping UT Tyler shoot a 306 as a team.

For the ladies, Lindsey paced the Patriots with a 76 for the first-round, leading the tourney by two-strokes over Tyler Junior College's Alexandria Martinez.

Taylor Sloane fired an 80, good enough for a fourth-place tie, while sister, and teammate Jordan Sloane fired an 82.  Marina Rhodes finished in a tie for 18th-place with a first round score of 86.  As a team, the Patriots shot a combined 324, just two-strokes ahead of TJC.
