BOSSIER CITY, La. – The UT Tyler men’s and women’s golf teams both took home first place finishes at the Hal Sutton Invitational played Monday and Tuesday at The Golf Club at StoneBridge.

Matt Stephens helped the Patriot men to the overall team win. He led the field from start to finish as his 3-under par 141 finish (67-74) won him the individual title.  In addition to Stephens, three more Patriots finished in the top ten.

Trent Boudoin went 74-72 – 146 to put him in a tie for fourth. Jacob Walsh’s 74-73 – 147 earned him eighth place, and John Dukes finished in a tie for ninth as he fired back-to-back rounds of 74.

The women held a four-shot lead after round one before cruising to a 17 shot win over runner-up Texarkana CC.  The Patriots were paced by Danica Weddle’s and Jordan Sloane’s identical first and second round scores of 77 and 78.  Their scores were good for a share of third place overall.

Taylor Sloane bounced back from an opening round 85 to post a 5-over 77 and an eighth place finish for the tournament.  Katie Crawford’s 84-84 – 168 rounded out the scoring for the Patriots.

Both teams will travel to Longview next week to compete in the LeTourneau Invitational.
