TYLER - The University of Texas at Tyler women's golf team finished in second place in a tough six-team field and the Patriots' men came in tied for third out of 14 teams at the UT Tyler Fall Invitational played at The Cascades Monday and Tuesday.

The UT Tyler women finished just four strokes back from winner Texarkana College, firing a combined total of 665 (338-327) to Texarkana's 661 (335-326).

Katie Harris shot a fourth place 19-over 163 (84-79) for the two rounds to lead the Patriots.  She was closley followed by teammate Danica Weddle with a 20-over 164 (84-80) for fifth place.

Jordan Woodruff tied for ninth place with a 168 (85-83) and Callie Rice shot a 170 (85-85) for 12th place. 

Cheslea Crain also finished in the top 15, with a 13th place 171 (86-85) for UT Tyler.

The top women's individual was Tyler JC's Jacki Marshall with a 13-over 157 for the tournament. 

On the men's side, Tyler Junior College won the event, shooting a combined 594 (299-295), and fellow American Southwest Conference member UT Dallas took second place with a 596. 

The Patriots tied with Mississippi College for third place with a two-round total of 605 (301-304).

Joey Rippel was the top individual for the Patriots, shooting a 6-over 148 (71-77).  Jack Gordy had the next best score for UT Tyler, shooting a 8-over 150 (77-73). 

Both UT Tyler squads will compete in the Southwestern Invitational at Horshoe Bay in Marble Fallas, Texas, next week.
