TYLER -- The UT Tyler women's golf team shaved seven strokes off their first round total to claim the team title at the Al Jones Memorial Invitational at the Cascades on Tuesday.  The Patriots shot a 325 on Tuesday, improving on their 337 round Monday, to edge Texarkana by four strokes.

The Patriots' Callie Rice, who finished in a tie for fifth place, shot a 164 (85-79) to lead UT Tyler. She was closely followed by teammates Katie Crawford and Taylor Sloane who both fired combined rounds of 165 to fie for seventh.

Danika Weddle came in tenth overall with a 168 (82-82) and joined UT Tyler's Jordan Sloane (171), Marina Rhodes (172) and Ceseli Slovacek (179) in the top 20.
