HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- The UT Tyler women’s golf team finished 16th in the 2011 NCAA Women's
Golf Championship at the Mission Inn Golf Resort. With Friday's final
round being cancelled due to weather, the Patriots finished their second
NCAA appearance with a three-round total of 1049.
Tournament officials canceled the final round due to a lightning
storm that moved through Florida on Friday morning.
Methodist, with a team score of 966, earned their 14th-straight national championship.
Danica Weddle led the Patriots with a three-day score of
260, shooting rounds of 89, 84 and 87. She tied for 54th overall. Katie Harris
followed just one shot behind Weddle. She posted scores of 89, 87 and 85.
Jordan Woodruff finished third on the team, shooting 89, 89
and 88. Jennifer King trailed Woodruff by only two shots, ending the tournament
with a three-day score of 268. Callie Rice followed up a tough first round 99
with scores of 88 and 85.
Methodist’s Paige Caldwell earned the overall medalist for
the tournament, breaking 80 in all three rounds. Caldwell posted scores of 77,
76 and 79.
