HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. --The University of Texas at Tyler women's golf team is in 15th place after the first two rounds of the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships being played at the Mission Inn Golf Resort.
After shooting 356 as a team on Tuesday, the Patriots shed eight strokes to fire a combined 348 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 704 (+120).
Danica Weddle leads UT Tyler with a two-round total of 173 (89-84). She is followed by Katie Harris at 176 (89-87) while Jordan Woodruff and Jennifer King both sit at 178 (89-89). Callie Rice rounds out the Patriots' scoring with a 187 (99-88).
On the leader board, Methodist expanded on its round one lead on Wednesday by
posting the low team total of the day of 319 (+27). The
Monarchs padded their lead over Gustavus Adolphus by 14 strokes and now sit 18
shots clear of the second place Gusties. St. Mary’s is just one stroke
behind Adolphus in third place while you have to drift back to 28 strokes off
the pace to find fourth place DePauw.
Individually, Methodist’s Paige Caldwell carded the low round
of the day with a solid 76 (+3) and, at +7 for the Championships, leads by 5
strokes over Becky Miller of Williams and Catherine Wagner of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Emily Bachert of Centre and Hannah Buck of Washington-St. Louis are tied for 4th place at +13 overall to
round out the top five.
Round three play begins Thursday morning.
