    CHAMPIONS TERRITORY: 2017-18 Year-In-Review

    An NCAA national baseball championship, 11 All-America selections, three regional team titles, eight NCAA tournament appearances, 11 American Southwest Conference championships and an .803 winning percentage on campus are just a few of the UT Tyler highlights from the 2017-18 athletic seasons. An athletic program with 17 sports, the Patriots combined to boast a 198-66-1 overall record in team sports and also won five golf tournaments, three cross country meets and one track & field team title at the ASC meet. At home, UT Tyler teams were 86-21-1 and also hosted two cross country meets, two golf tournaments and two track & field meets.

    UT Tyler's Alex Bishop and Stephanie Tutt are two of 26 graduating student-athletes from the 13 American Southwest Conference member institutions are honored by the conference and their institutions as 2017-18 ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor recipients.

    RECAP: @UTTylerWGolf finishes second at ASC Championship

    UT Tyler’s Amy Cox and Taylor Denton both birdied their final holes to force a playoff at the American Southwest Conference Championship, but Mary Hardin-Baylor would win the title on the second hole of the playoff as the Patriots finished as the tournament’s runner-up at the Avery Ranch Golf Club. UT Tyler (322-314) and UMHB 316-320) both finished the 36-hole tournament with 636 totals before the Cru won by seven strokes on the second playoff hole.

    RECAP: @uttylerwgolf in second at ASC Championship

    The UT Tyler women’s golf team is in second place at the American Southwest Conference Championship tournament after shooting an opening-round team total of 322 on Monday at the Avery Ranch Golf Club. Taylor Denton, Amy Cox and Katelyn Hicken lead the way for the Patriots, all of whom sit in the top-10 of the leaderboard midway through the event.

    PREVIEW: @UTTylerWGolf shooting for 5th straight ASC title

    UT Tyler will compete for their fifth straight American Southwest Conference Women’s Golf Championship title this week at the Avery Ranch Golf Club in Austin. The Patriots will be represented by Katie Hicken, Stephanie Tutt, Amy Cox, Taylor Denton and Hannah Washburn in the event that begins at 8 a.m. on Monday before the final round on Tuesday.

    SPOTLIGHT: Hicken thriving in multiple roles at UT Tyler

    “I knew that I really wanted to become involved throughout the campus when I came here,” Hicken said. “I wanted to play golf, but I also wanted to be a part of multiple organizations. I’ve never been afraid to talk about things that are taboo or stigmatized. I’m not one to shy away from a tough conversation and I want to make a difference.”
