PREVIEW: UT Tyler XC to host King Campbell Spectacular on Friday

TYLER – A two-mile race with music blaring throughout campus will start the UT Tyler Cross Country season on Friday as the program hosts the King Campbell Rock & Roll Spectacular.

With 115 athletes registered to compete, the first meet of the season will start at 7 p.m. on the UT Tyler intramural field. The Patriots won the event last season on the men’s and women’s side and also went on to sweep the American Southwest Conference Championship. The event is the first of seven races leading into the NCAA regional meet. 

Teams traveling to Tyler to run in the season-opening spectacular are: Austin College, East Texas Baptist, Jarvis Christian, LeTourneau and Louisiana College.

The Patriots will also host the Braveheart Invitational on Friday, Sept. 9 before four road meets leading into the ASC Championship which will be hosted at Concordia on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Austin.
