TYLER -- The UT Tyler men's and women's cross country teams both finished in second place while serving as hosts of the annual UT Tyler Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. Ross Renfroe was the top finisher for the UT Tyler men, and Missy Hebert was the top Patriot woman.
The Patriot men had an overall average time of 28:05.06, coming
in just short of first place Lon Morris which recorded a 27:40.47 average time.
Renfroe was the first UT Tyler runner to cross the
finish line, as he clocked a 26:54.09 time place second
on the overall finish list. Nicklas Huff (27:49.68) placed seventh and Jake
Waddingham (28:16.71) finished tenth to put three Patriots in the top
ten. Just missing the top ten, but
helping the Patriots to their overall second-place finish were Judeh
Nasser (28:39.72), Will Krogman (28:45.10) and Kyle Clawson (28:52.16).
The UT Tyler women posted an average time 22:06.10, behind
first place Southern Arkansas’ time of 20:54.31. Hebert was time of 21:15.00 placed her sixth overall.
Deborah Murphy finished with a time of 21:18.00 and finished eighth. Also
placing in the top 20 were Audrey Halicke (22:12.32) and Kelly McQuire
(22:38.52).
The overall top finisher for the men’s division was Southern
Arkansas’ Mickey Hammer (26:41.75). The women’s division winner, also from Southern Arkansas, was Mary Nguyen (20:25.00).
UT Tyler will compete next at the Texas DIII Championships in
Abilene on Sept. 24.
