MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Texas at Tyler men's cross country team finished in second place and the women came in sixth at the Rhodes College Lynx Invitational Saturday morning in Memphis.
The UT Tyler men finished with 89 points, behind only host Rhodes' 37 points. Jeff Chandler was the top runner for the men, leading the Patriots with a second-place time of 25:46.
Memphis' James Maglasang was the top male individual with a winning time of 25:40.
Including Chandler, five Patriots' runners finished in the top 25 with Ford Noack coming in at 20th place with a time of 27:16, Joncary Faubien in 21st place at 27:24, Tanner Chambliss at 22nd (27:27), and Nicklas Huff ran a 24th place time of 27:25.
Jessica Waninger led the Patriots' women to a sixth place team finish, setting a new school record with a time of 24:01 for the 6K. She was 12th place overall and joined Sarah Hankla (26th/24:58) in the top 30.
Missy Hebert (33rd/ 25:21), Ginny Murphy (40th/26:08), and Andrea Melendez (44th/26:32) also finished well for the UT Tyler women.
Host Rhodes also won the women's meet and the Lynx' Taylor Stephens won individually with a 22:19 time.
The UT Tyler runners will take next weekend off before traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Arkansas Invitational on Oct. 16.
