TYLER – The UT Tyler cross country programs return to competition on Saturday at the Marshall City Arena with the women running a 6K starting at 8 a.m. and the men an 8K at 9 a.m. at the race hosted by East Texas Baptist in Marshall.

The Patriots are running in their fourth of six regular season cross country meets after taking last weekend off from competition following a trip to Tennessee for the Rhodes College Invitational two weeks ago. This will be the second straight 8K meet for the men's team and the first 6K for the women.

The UT Tyler men’s team will be represented by Will McIlroy, Nathan Adams, Gerardo Viera, Daniel Juren, Conor Linekin, Justin Tokuz, Miles Zeorlin, Marcus Allen, Parker Cota, Dylan Stegall, Jackson Wascheck, Quinton Bryson and Shafen Borah. The women’s team is represented by Holly Nohavitza, Bethany Cox, Rebekah Groth, Lauren Halliday, Lauren Knight, Caitlin Pruett, Michaela Heys, Mari Rodriguez, Rachel Willis, Tristin Salem, Stephanie Pierce, Courtney Smith and Kelli Kissinger.

“The preseason top four ASC men will be at the ETBU meet,” UT Tyler coach Bob Hepler said. “I’ve challenged our freshmen dominated men’s team to beat them.  Our men are deep and hard working.  I fully expect them to rise to the challenge despite the fact that I’m making them do a full five-mile progression run workout right before the race.

“While we are not going to rest for this meet, I fully expect to see good performances,” Hepler added. “The ladies will go head to head with the preseason favorite to win the ASC UT Dallas.  The Comets currently have the two fastest ladies in the conference. We have to beat them with our depth and have Holly N and Rachel W step up against their top two. I told the men and women that if they don’t perform well that I will not feed them after the meet. That’s good coaching and a potential NCAA violation.”

UT Tyler will return to competition next weekend at Mississippi College before running at the University of Dallas on Oct. 15 and then the American Southwest Conference Championships on Oct. 29 at Concordia University in Austin.
