TYLER – The UT Tyler women’s basketball team had its five-game winning streak end with a 65-58 loss to UT Dallas on Saturday in its regular-season home finale at the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (15-8, 11-5 ASC) completed the home portion of their season with a 10-2 record at the HPC, while the Comets (20-3, 14-2 ASC) expanded their American Southwest Conference East Division lead going into the final week of the regular season. The ASC East champion will host the conference tournament in two weeks.

Alex Kochner recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Patriots, while Bianca Valderrama had 15 points and six rebounds. Kochner, who was honored on senior day along with Demi Cumby, Alexus Bertrand and Brittany Johnson, was 6-for-16 from the field and hit two 3-pointers. She also added three assists and three steals in the effort, while Cumby scored seven points and Bertrand had six. Carissa Spiker would add eight points, six rebounds and four assists for the Patriots.

UT Tyler led 21-13 after the first quarter and were up 38-32 at halftime after shooting 47 percent from the field, but saw the Comets come back with the Patriots going 4-for-13 from the field in the third quarter and 4-for-21 in the fourth. UT Tyler finished the game shooting 5-for-20 from the field.

UT Dallas finished the game shooting 43.5 percent from the field, including going 9-for-15 on 3-pointers. Victoria Pena led the Comets with 19 points and six rebounds, while Kelley Skinner had 18 points and nine rebounds.

UT Tyler will finish off the regular season next week with road games at Belhaven on Thursday and Louisiana College on Saturday. The Patriots are currently third in the ASC East Division standing going into their 5:30 p.m. game in Jackson, Mississippi on Thursday.
