TYLER – The UT Tyler women’s basketball team took a 71-61 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday in an American Southwest Conference game at the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (4-4, 2-2 ASC) were limited to 32.8 percent shooting and committed 28 turnovers in their only home loss of the season, while the Cru (8-2, 4-1 ASC) overcame their 33.3 shooting percentage by going 25-for-30 at the free-throw line for the road win.

Alex Kochner recorded her second double-double of the season and led the Patriots with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Samantha Odom had 10 points and seven rebounds. Kochner also had three assists and two steals to go along with two 3-pointers for her 17 points. Alexus Bertrand added nine points after hitting two 3-pointers and led the team with six assists and four steals.

Demi Cumby added nine rebounds and eight points, while Brittany Johnson and Carissa Spiker each had six points. The Patriots finished the game 10 of 15 at the free throw line, scoring 15 fewer points from the line than the Cru. UTT would own a 45-38 rebounding advantage, but couldn’t hit their shots inside or outside where it was 7-for-34 on 3-pointers.

Hannah Holt led UMHB with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Alicia Blackwell went for 10 points and 10 rebounds to give the Cru two players with double-doubles.

UT Tyler will return to action at 2 p.m. on Tuesday against Concordia in an ASC game before hosting Whitworth College at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the HPC before going on holiday break.
