Undefeated @UTTylerWBB remains at No. 3/4

TYLER – The UT Tyler Patriots remain the No. 3-ranked NCAA Division III team in the nation according to the D3Hoops.com Women’s Top-25 Poll and No. 4 in the WBCA NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.

The Patriots (5-0) open American Southwest Conference play this week when they take on Sul Ross at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Alpine and then Howard Payne at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Brownwood. UT Tyler has a 21-game regular-season winning streak going dating back to a loss on Dec. 19, 2015 at Austin College. Since then, UT Tyler has won 27 of 28 games with its only loss coming in the NCAA Elite 8. The team received two first-place votes in the first D3Hoops poll of the season. 

Tufts (4-0) is the top-ranked team in the nation in both polls, while Amherst (3-0) is second in both. Scranton is third in the WBCA rankings and fourth, behind the Patriots, in the D3Hoops poll.

UT Tyler owns a 17 point scoring margin of victory this season by averaging 73.8 points per game and limiting the opposition to 56.8 points per game and a 31.4 shooting percentage. The Patriots are coming off a 51-40 non-conference win over Birmingham Southern with Michelle Obach leading the team with 14 points and three assists. A returning all-America, Obach is leading the Patriots with 15.2 points per game while D’Onna Matthews has 10.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Shuntay Raglin, who scored 23 points in a 79-75 win over HPU last Wednesday, is at 10.2 points per and is grabbing five rebounds per game.

The nationally-ranked Patriots will return home to host Hardin-Simmons on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Herrington Patriot Center.
