TYLER – The Herrington Patriot Center will host a Monday night doubleheader when the No. 3-ranked UT Tyler women play Birmingham Southern at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow against Rust College in a pair of non-conference games.

The women enter the game against Birmingham Southern with a 4-0 record this season and are on a 20-game regular-season winning streak dating back to last year’s historic run. The Patriot are coming off a 79-75 non-conference win over Howard Payne last Wednesday and will open American Southwest Conference play on Thursday in Alpine against Sul Ross before playing Howard Payne on Saturday in Brownwood. Shuntay Raglin led the Patriots with 23 points and seven rebounds against HPU, while Michelle Obach had 22 points. Obach enters the third week of the season leading the Patriots with 15.5 points per game while Raglin is at 11.8 and D’Onna Matthews is averaging 11 points per game. Matthews leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game.

The UT Tyler men are coming off a thrilling 71-70 non-conference win over Jarvis Christian on Saturday with freshman Davis Moore hitting a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining in the game. The win followed a 70-65 loss to Austin College in a two-game Thanksgiving Week schedule that takes the team’s overall record to 2-2. Melvin Anthony is leading the Patriots with 12.8 points and eight rebounds per game to start his junior season, while Tyler Jacobs is averaging 11.3 points per game and Jordan Francis has 10.3 points per game. Verlo Levels, who had the assist of Moore’s game-winner on Saturday, is averaging 6.3 points per game and is tied with Josh Tatum for the team lead with seven assists through four games. A freshman from Martin’s Mill, Moore is averaging 6.7 points per game and has hit four 3-pointers.
