TYLER -- The UT Tyler women's basketball team tied a program-record for wins-in-a-season with 18, dominating Sul Ross State 91-53 on Saturday. In the win, Brittany King registered her eighth double-double of the year with 23 points and 17 rebounds.
Sul Ross (1-20, 0-18) led 3-2 just two minutes in, but it would be the Lobos' last lead of the game.
UT Tyler (18-3, 16-2) would answer quickly, taking control of the game, closing out the first half with a 50-27 lead.
The Patriots would go up by as many as 40 points in the second half, eventually coasting to a comfortable, 91-53 win.
Last season, the Patriots finished with an 18-9 record, setting a new program-record in head coach Kevin Baker's first season.
This year, the Patriots have matched that win total, with four games remaining on the regular-season schedule.
King was once again dominant in the win, going 9-of-11 from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
Freshman Makenzi May added 15 points in the win, including five rebounds in her second-straight start.
UT Tyler shot a sizzling 60-percent from the field in the first half, eventually cooling off a little and finishing at 53-percent for the game.
The Lobos has three players in double-figures, led by Rhiana Michou's 14 points and Ashley Ousley's 12.
UT Tyler will play its last two home games of the season, beginning Thursday, February 13 against Concordia-Tx at 5:30 p.m.
