Hot Second Half Lifts Comets over Pats, 77-60
TYLER – Freshman Paige Parrish pumped in the fifth 20-point game of her career, finishing with a game-high 23 points, but it was visiting UT Dallas who pulled away from a six-point halftime advantage behind 48 percent shooting in the second half to earn a 77-60 victory at the Herrington Patriot Center Monday night.

UT Dallas (17-6, 14-4 ASC) finished off its second consecutive season sweep of the Patriots in the win, while UT Tyler fell for the eighth time out of the last 10 in American Southwest Conference East play. They dropped to 10-13 overall and 8-10 in ASC play.

The Comets scored 26 points off 21 Patriot turnovers, including 18 in the second half, that proved to be the difference.

Out of the final media timeout of the first half, the Comets pulled away from a 24-23 lead with seven unanswered to take their largest lead of the period at eight points with just over 2 minutes left. A free throw from Parrish then capped the first half scoring, giving UTD a 31-25 lead.

A 9-minute scoring drought for UT Tyler was snapped off Parrish's first jumper of the second half at the 17-minute mark, kickstarting a 10-4 run for the Patriots. Freshman Lauren Glasco then converted a tough and-1 in the paint, getting the Patriots to within three at 42-39 with 14:29 remaining.

The Comets pulled away minutes later with a 9-2 run to stretch their lead to double digits, hitting four of five shots during the span. UT Dallas then emptied its bench down the stretch, who combined for 16 points, to turn a close game into a lopsided 17-point win.

Behind Parrish's 23 points, Kayla McGovern tied a career-high with nine points and seven rebounds in addition to nine from Kayla Elizalde. Glasco also fell two points shy of a second-straight double-double, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds.

UTD was paced by three scorers in double figures, led by 16 apiece from Rachel Addison and Chelsea Edwards.

UT Tyler will continue a four-game homestand to close the regular season Thursday, hosting Louisiana College.
