TYLER-- The UT Tyler women's basketball team lost a 65-64 nail-biter to Ozarks on Saturday afternoon, knocking the Patriots out of post-season contention. The loss ends UT Tyler's year with a 12-13 record.
Trailing by 11 points with 7:15 remaining in the game, the Patriots stormed back with a 11-0 run, cutting the lead to one with 2:03 remaining in the game.
With the score tied 63-63, senior Lindsey Hausmann hit two free throws, giving UT Tyler a 64-63 lead with just :48 seconds remaining.
Ozarks' Sabrina Goddard hit a jumper with :35 seconds remaining, giving the Eagles the 65-64 lead.
In the next 20 seconds, Ozarks missed six free throws, keeping the score at 65-64.
UT Tyler had one more possession, but was unable to get a shot off in the last second, going the last :48 seconds without scoring a point.
The Patriots finished the contest shooting just 30-percent from the field, while Ozarks shot a blistering 50-percent.
The Eagles also controlled the boards, taking a 39-33 rebound advantage.
Hausmann led the way for the Patriots, scoring 23 points in her final game of her career. Junior Nicole Tucker added 11 points, while senior Shamiya Domino corralled eight rebounds.
After the game, UT Tyler honored the 2011-2012 seniors: Melissa Thomas, Lindsey Hausmann, Shamiya Domino, Kayla McGovern, Emily Bechdol and Ally Allen.
